MARGATE – Beachstock is back! The Margate Business Association and the city will host their annual celebration of summer fun, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Huntington-Granville Avenue beach. Rain date is June 28.

Affectionately known as “The Planet’s Biggest Beach Party,” a 15-year tradition that attracts nearly 8,000 visitors each year, admission is free and beach badges are not required.

This year’s festival of summer fun features new food vendors, more children’s activities, an eclectic line-up of live music, free surf and kite lessons, cornhole, volleyball, a Tiki Beach Bar and, new this year, the Jetty x Ben Gravy Pineapple Surf Classic.

The multi-division surf competition is hosted by professional surfer Ben Gravy, who travels the world chasing waves and sharing his experiences with a global audience. The event will feature team-based heats, open competition and youth surf experiences.

The Sustainable Downbeach tent will feature terrapins, hands-on environmental educational activities, displays and more. It is a great opportunity for children and adults to learn more about what lives in the waters surrounding Margate.  Meet at the main stage for an environmental walk hosted by “Scuba” Steve Jasecki, chair of the Sustainable Downbeach green team.

Matthew Deibert will offer sand sculpting lessons, Margate Fire Department will provide a cool blast of water, Stacey’s Surf Camp will offer surfing lessons and Air Circus Kite Shop will provide single/double line stunt kite demonstrations and lessons. There will also be a children’s treasure hunt, limbo contests and Margate Wawa will provide free giveaways.

The world’s favorite mascot, the Philly Phanatic, will make his inaugural appearance, bringing his special brand of fun to the beach.

Beachstock is all about food and refreshments. New culinary additions include Le Onde Pizza Truck, Sherri Crab Cakes, AC Concessions (seafood & BBQ).

Fan favorites such as Margate Dairy Bar and Burger, Cali Shakes, Tacocat, For Goodness Cakes MA! and Squeezies Lemonade return to deliver the tastes attendees have come to crave.

The waterfront Tiki Bar will offer a refreshing variety of new adult beverages, perfect for sipping by the sea. A must-visit for the 21 and older crowd is the island-vibe beer garden featuring adult beverage tastings. Relax amid palm trees, flamingos, Adirondack chairs, umbrellas, cornhole games, swag giveaways and more

The MBA Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby on the Granville Avenue beach, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be divided into age groups. Participants will get 10 swings off a tee. The slugger to get the most home runs over the fence in their age group will receive awesome prizes. USA DJ Entertainment will introduce the players. The Margate Cornhole League Spring Championship and Beachstock Family Fun Cornhole Tournament will take place in the center of the event site.

Entertainment on two stages will keep the fun going all day long.

The Cat Country 107.3 Main Stage will feature dance hits from The Shoobs and timeless rock classics from No Clue Band and Right Turn at 40. Beachstock legends The South Pacific Island Dancers will wow the crowd with their choreographed performances. Cat Country 107.3 and ESPN 97.3 will also be on site with activities, and ESPN will be airing live from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The afternoon at the Kids’ Stage is packed with activities, including an appearance by the newly crowned Miss New Jersey Kylie Gene Wright and performances by students from Susie Neustadter, Blake’s Gymnastics, and the Emerald Isle Academy of Irish Dance.

Wait, there’s more…

There will be a screening of “The Sponge Bob Movie: Search for SquarePants” at 6:45 p.m.

A bonfire brightens the sky at 8 p.m. when you can catch the dazzling South Pacific Island Dancers perform their Fire Dance routine.

And the feel-good, coastal soul rock band iCandee will perform live 8:30-10 p.m.
