Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections Maureen Bugdon has earned the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s Certificate of Federal Professional Training, a national credential for election professionals dedicated to expanding their knowledge, skills and expertise.

The achievement reflects a deep commitment to professional growth and continuous learning, a standard shared by election professionals nationwide.

The U.S. EAC is an independent, bipartisan federal commission whose mission is to help election officials improve the administration of elections and help Americans  participate in the voting process.

The no-cost certification program offers professional development for election administrators across the country. The curriculum spans foundational and advanced topics including election law, accessibility, office administration, communications, voting systems and technology and poll worker training. Candidates must complete 30 training credits to qualify.

Bugdon was first appointed Superintendent of Elections in 2013 and serves on the Executive Board and Local Leadership Council for the EAC.  She has also served as the former president of the New Jersey Association for Elections Officials and as a member of the Bipartisan Policy Group, a nationally recognized election organization.

“I’m so grateful to the EAC for creating the Learning Lab and allowing election officials across the country to further develop best practices and policies to improve U.S. elections at all levels of the ballot,” Bugdon said. “This training furthers my commitment to the registrants and voters of Atlantic County.  We’ve introduced the Learning Lab to the Superintendent of Elections team so they, too, can sharpen their skills to better serve the public. They’re excited and I’m thrilled to be the first in our region to achieve this certification.”

Bugdon added that she and the Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections Office remain committed to transparency, accuracy and the highest standard of service for voters.
