MARGATE – A Pennsylvania woman was taken to the hospital around dinnertime Thursday evening after she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Essex and Ventnor avenues, near Bocca Coal Fired Bistro.

According to a release from Public Information Officer Lt. Joseph Scullion, Margate Police responded to the scene at 5:45 p.m. after receiving a 911 call.

When they arrived, police discovered the 64-year-old Pennsylvania woman was attempting to cross the intersection in the crosswalk when she was struck by a grey Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on Ventnor Avenue. 

The driver of the Hyundai was identified as 84-year-old Earlene Schoener of Margate. 

The victim was transported AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and is recovering with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Summonses are pending the outcome of an investigation by Officer Josh Donovan of the Margate City Police Department.
