Local contractor wins $19.7 million contract

PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District announced that today that it has awarded a $19.695 million contract to repair multiple ocean outfall pipes along Absecon Island.

The contract, awarded to Agate Construction Co. of Egg Harbor Township, calls for the repair or extension of the following outfall pipes in Atlantic City, Ventnor and Margate:

· New Jersey Avenue (Atlantic City)

· St James Place (Atlantic City)

· Virginia Avenue (Atlantic City)

· California Avenue (Atlantic City)

· Jackson Avenue (Ventnor City)

· Nassau Avenue (Margate)

· Vendome Avenue (Margate)

The contract also calls for repairs to the New Haven vehicular access ramp in Ventnor.

Work is part of the Absecon Island Coastal Storm Risk Management project and is cost-shared with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the local municipalities.

The Army Corps will coordinate with Agate Construction Company on a schedule and share updates on its webpage.
