MARGATE – In shore communities, the end of the summer season occurs around Labor Day when residents and visitors dip their toes in the ocean one more time, purchase a few souvenirs and clean out their cupboards. For those individuals and families who have a surplus of non-perishable foods, basic essentials, and baby products and prefer not to lug them back home, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties can help
JFS willl accept canned and boxed goods, such as peanut butter, jelly, cereal, tuna, vegetables, pasta, soups, snacks,and more to keep the pantry shelves stocked. Drop off food for the JFS Food Pantry 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 607 N. Jerome Ave.
From January through June, the JFS Pantry distributed 350,560 pounds of food and basic essentials, including more than 11,790 pounds of produce to 8,909 people, which includes 1,547 individuals who visited the agency pantry for the first time.
“At JFS, our food security program provides nutritious, healthy food to individuals in need in our community,” JFS CEO Andrea Steinberg said. “With people cleaning their cupboards at summer’s end and donating products to our agency, we can continue to meet the increased food demand in our region.”
