LeTour de Downbeach family bike ride returns June 6
DOWNBEACH – What has become a rite of spring in the Downbeach communities, the 18th annual Le Tour de Downbeach sets off 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6 for a fun family ride through Absecon Island. Rain date is June 7.
The Margate Business Association and Ventnor Business Association collaborate for the annual event which began as the Tour De Ventnor in 2008.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. on Ventnor’s Newport Avenue beachfront park. The outing is a great chance cruise with friends and enjoy the beauty and serenity of Absecon Island’s seaside communities. Riders can warm up and stretch with Jackie Fox of Fox Fitness 4 You at the registration area.

The picturesque, oceanside 10-mile bicycle tour begins in Ventnor and travels along the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, with a turnaround and hydration break at Florida Avenue near Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. The tour returns through Ventnor, Margate and Longport and ends at Tomatoe’s restaurant on Amherst Avenue in Margate, where riders enjoy a delicious BBQ and free water ice provided by Margate Dairy Bar and Burger.
Event sponsors and partners include Luciano Lamberti’s Restaurant and Sunset Marina, AAAA Bike Shop, Casel’s Marketplace, USA DJ, Atlantic County Toys for Kids, Ventnor Veterinary Office, Ula Facial Boutique, Rene Kane Realtor, Fit 4 Mom and Island Dental.
Pre-registration is $30 per rider or $25 per rider for a group of four or more. Day of registration is $35 or $30 pre rider for four or more.
A portion of the proceed will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Ann Marie Weisen, one of the tour’s original founders.
